Why Are Christians So Afraid?

We worship an all-powerful God. So why do so many of us live in fear?

Throughout Scripture, the people of God were marked by courage. They faced giants, armies, persecution, and impossible circumstances with confidence that their God was greater. Yet over time, fear, disappointment, responsibility, and the voices around us can slowly convince us to stop taking steps of faith and start playing it safe.

In this classic teaching, Francis Chan looks at the story of Joshua and Caleb in Numbers 13–14 and asks us to consider what we truly believe about the power of God. Ten spies saw the obstacles and concluded they couldn’t overcome them. Caleb saw the same obstacles and believed God could.

God hasn’t changed. And the same Holy Spirit who empowered His people throughout Scripture is still at work today. May our courage grow as our confidence in Him grows.
