Striving for Holiness

FRANCIS CHANNOVEMBER 17, 202547:19

“Don’t move on from the cross.” From the Passion Conference 2014, Francis Chan delivers a stirring call to fix our eyes on Jesus and let the gospel produce genuine transformation. He begins in Gethsemane, considering the Son’s agony and the Father’s will (Matthew 26; Isaiah 53:10), and asks God to rescue us from casual gratitude - so we thank Him deeply for the cross. Then, walking line-by-line through 2 Peter 1, Francis shows that God has already given believers “everything we need for life and godliness,” placing us on equal standing with the apostles and inviting us to become “partakers of the divine nature.” This isn’t passive religion: Scripture commands us to make every effort - growing in virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love.

If you long for a faith that is both intimate and resilient, this message will push you to thank Jesus more deeply, pursue holiness with persistence, and live every day as if God truly can make it the best yet - because He’s given you all you need.
